George Peppard needed stitches after filming an episode of The A-Team
Filming an action-adventure show like The A-Team sounds fun and a bit scary when you think about it. All those explosions, chases, and jumps from vehicles or high places are cool to watch on screen, but imagine what the actors had to go through. Stunt doubles exist for a reason; a network can't risk a star getting hurt and being out for weeks.
Yet that doesn't mean they were completely out of harm's way. George Peppard, who played Hannibal, had a few cuts himself. One time he even had to get stitches.
According to a 1984 Associated Press article, Peppard needed eight stitches after cutting his back in a fall from a truck while filming a scene. At 55, he refused to let that slow him down. After getting stitched up, he went right back to work, according to a spokeswoman.
"He was stitched up in his trailer by a doctor from a nearby hospital and came right back to the set as if nothing happened," she said. Apparently, Peppard was standing on oil drums as the truck was being positioned for shooting and fell when the vehicle came too close to a building.
With decades of industry experience, this probably wasn't his first time getting a cut on set. Two days later, he had to rest because of the flu, missing three days of filming.
