Lynda Carter got the role of Wonder Woman ''by chance''

  Warner Bros.

Roles do not fall into the lap of those who want them, unless you're a massive star for whom the production/character is written especially for. If you're not, you have to audition just like everyone else. Sometimes, luck steps in and sprinkles some good charm your way, which is what happened to Lynda Carter.

In a 1976 interview with Dick Maurice for the Springfield Leader and Press, she explained, "Yes, I had tested for a film, and I had been on the interview for the pilot and they saw my screen test and they wanted me to test for Wonder Woman. Three weeks later, I got a phone call and they said I had the part. So it was by chance that one producer talked to the other producer and said you have to see this screen test that I did of this girl and it happened."

Carter’s looks were also mentioned in the interview. When asked about being called the most beautiful woman in the world, she replied, "I tell you, I have never really thought of myself that way. It's a little embarrassing to hear it come from you. I just don't think about it."
